A Women-run LLC and Subsidiary of NED Africa
Vamijo Taxi Service, a new women-run LLC and subsidiary of New-Age Environmental Development of Africa (NED Africa), my social enterprise. Vamijo Taxi Service will provide a range of transportation and logistics services in rural and urban areas across Ghana, led exclusively by teams of professionally trained women drivers.
New branch of Vamijo Taxi Service: Commercial cross-country passenger van service
We recently purchased two 12-person vans from Japan for $45,000 USD that we will use to start a new branch of Vamijo Taxi Service, transporting passengers within the city of Accra and between major towns and cities across the country (for example, service between Hohoe, where the NED Africa headquarters is based, and Accra, a 5-hour journey). The 12-person vans will complement the 5-person sedan taxis we have already purchased, allowing us to provide cross-country travel with the vans and local taxi service between rural villages with the sedans.
Comfortable, safe, affordable, modernized cross-country transport is lacking in the country. We aim to fill that gap with our modern, spacious, air-conditioned, well-maintained Hyundai Grand Starex vans operated by professionally trained women drivers. We’ll offer regular schedules and online advance booking.
By supporting our van service now, you will help us create good jobs for women drivers, fill a crucial transportation gap in Ghana, and earn much-needed revenue to support NED Africa’s programming to address climate change and promote sustainable development in cooperation with local communities.
